AIM: Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics, fundamentals and beyond

Published: Friday, January 8, 2021

The series of seminars of the Institute for Applications of Computing of the CNR begins again:

"AIM: Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics, fundamentals and beyond",

the next one will be held:
Tuesday, January 12, 2021 - 2:30 p.m.
Pierluigi Contucci, Department of Mathematics, University of Bologna
Title: Mathematics and Machine Learning, the Statistical Machine Approach

Abstract: Machine learning is having an impact in society comparable only to that of engines during the industrial revolution. Today, as then, technology precedes science and asks it for unifying concepts and tools of understanding like those of mathematics with its rigorous approach and its contribution of ideas, methods and models.
This seminar aims to provide a perspective on the use of one class of such tools, those of statistical mechanics of disordered systems, which are proving useful for the purpose.
